Affiliate Marketing Any Good? Yes and No

I give yet another article written by my husband, Glenn, on the subject of affiliate marketing and his experiences of it and his findings. I hope you find this useful…

“I first started online marketing a few years ago. I walked into the field with a lot of determination, strong work ethic, high hopes…but no product. I was doing okay in my current job at the time, just a little bored and I wanted to make more money. I ran across the banner ads for online businesses and I wanted to start selling, and it needed to happen soon. Through hours of research online I found that affiliate marketing was probably the simplest and quickest way to get started. But as time went on I also found out that it takes more than a product to produce sales.

It’s a simple concept. It’s a sales job-you have a product that you are selling for someone else. In return you get a cut of the sale (the commission). Typically you get a good amount of the sales price as your commission, and with internet affiliate programs, you don’t carry much overhead (if any at all). The company sponsoring you usually gives you a website that you direct customers to and any sale transactions done on the website are automatic. Simple concept, however…

You need a marketing plan to make good on your affiliate marketing system. Though you don’t come up with a product to sell and you don’t need to go out and recruit people, there are a few things you need to do if you expect to succeed. Be willing to put out some effort to learn how to implement your affiliate program, especially if you are a newbie. You can get help or advice from the people who have already been successful.

Contrary to what you may have heard, you don’t have to have a website to make money with affiliate marketing. You don’t even have to own your own product…which means that you are not dependent on anyone but yourself. If you want to get started, one of the best ways to start is affiliate marketing.

If you have a product to sell (even if you don’t have your own), you can simply write articles, blogs, etc. and put a link to your product in the resource box or even the information you provide. If you don’t have your own product, well, you can always use affiliate products. You can choose from many different products in any category to promote.

No matter what you decide you want to do, you can always find your niche. If you like Restrictions, you can find a product like “St restricting Joint Venture” that you can promote to restrictions group.

ClickBank

ClickBank is one of the easiest to use affiliate networks. You can simply sign up as an affiliate, and start promoting products. ClickBank even ranks the products you can promote, so you can figure out which ones are selling the best.

Commission Junction

Commission Junction is a trusted network by many affiliate marketers, and rightly so. Commission Junction has been the instrumental in building many of the major players in online marketing, from AdSense to ClickBank tohosting services, and many more. Commission Junction works off of the C-T-P-M-R-P- hierarchical model, or product-raid-product-raid-product and build a listof proven buyers.

To get started, all you do is sign up for an account, and then choose a product that you would like to promote. You can then generate a special link to include in your emails and on your websites. If someone clicks on your link and buys the product, you get a commission off of that sale!

Many of the products on Commission Junction only cost around $50-$60, but some can go as high as $200. So your return on investment is very important in your decision to promote that product. Also, some of the products on CJ will offer 50% commission sales, while others may offer 75% or 100%! So promote those products like crazy to get as much CJ traffic as possible.

Another thing to consider is that CJ has a “residual income” program. This means that you can sign up for the program, and earn 50% of all of the sales you make for the lifetime of the customer. This can be very powerful, as you “ping” the customer each time you sell, so when they decide to act upon the offer, you have a great chance of making a sale! Also, you can promote many different products several times, making you many more sales.

Commission Junction works so well, that I think it’s a nearly impossible task to not make money as an affiliate with them.

Also, this company has a “super” product, and I’m not referring to that by any stretch of the imagination. If you haven’t already, you should know that there is a darn good eBook that launched recently calledAffiliate Payload.

I read the ebook, and I was impressed.”
