How to Get Out of Your Own Way (Self Care Part 2)

The first thing to do is think about your emotional well-being. Self-care comes from breathing and eating well, getting friends and family with you to help you; and giving your self a healthy balance between yourself, your family, friends, and things that need to get accomplished. Do you feel like someone has almost erased your energy when you speak with them? Do you think that you can’t think straight and work together? Do you often feel sick? Do you find yourself moody or irritable or tired?

If you can relate to a few of these symptoms above, then you obviously have an issue that needs attention. The next thing you need to do is to decide with yourself what you are going to do to improve your well-being. It might be a good idea to consult with a therapist before you begin a new exercise regimen.

It’s not easy to find self-care; but it is what will allow you to keep you on the track you want to be on, to have a less jumbled life. You might have to sacrifice some of your current activities in order to stick with your self-care program, but your well-being has to take a back seat to the priorities of everyone else around you. I’m sure that you would love to do more for your family, but you have to change the way you live in order to be happy for yourself.

Once you have established the direction you want to go in with your self-care program, the next thing to do is to take care of yourself physically. Make sure you are getting enough sleep. Help yourself to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet. And, for the ladies, make sure you don’t light up your skin or your hair with chemicals.

Personally, I have to say that my favorite way to take care of me physically is to take lots of Catnip. It’s something I buy at the local grocery store and I really like to add some infinitesimal amounts to my diet every day. After all, the natural catnip I purchased is from the garden store. My favorites include the red and the yellow and they are all such fun. You can find them in the nursery section or any other pet aisle at any grocery store.

Next, It’s about exercising. If having your cat or your new puppy indoors is no problem, then you will most certainly find a program that will fit your premises. One of your self-care guidelines might be to make time for exercise. If you’re going to exercise on your own, then make sure you find an exercise that is within your capabilities. Check out personal trainers to see what fits your needs while you are in the Beginner programs, or maybe have a class scheduled around your needs. The important point is to set a time in the day when you are not only physically and emotionally ready to exercise but you are physically active enough to allow for regular self-care.

Last, but certainly not least, is not ever leave yourself any cold or any unfulfilled. You might be hearing that too many people are on antidepressants these days. They’re doing such a great job that they might even be able to push down their feelings to just ride the waves of anxiety and fear and depression through their days. If you continue to remain away from your own self-care, your physical, mental, and emotional well-being will eventually drain right out of yourself. And, just as the Adventure Hacks you enjoy require new blood, you need to treat yourself to some self-care.
