Puppy Training – Why Is it So Important to Train My Puppy?

Are you looking forward to hand over your newly adopted puppy to his new family? Are you ready to watch him grow up and learn his own personality? Well, training is definitely one of those things that you need to focus on. Training helps our dogs learn manners and later on helps us change some of those behaviors.

There are several reasons why we want to train our dogs. One of the benefits is that it helps us protect them especially when they are far away from us. It is very unfortunate that dogs that are far of our locations are the ones that causes trouble and we have to be careful of them.

If you have a busy schedule that you cannot follow, then you should understand that keeping a good dog is necessary and is vital to your well-being.

Our dogs are our dearest best friends. When you bring them home, they look up to us for all their needs and then some. That includes their training. We do not have to be too distant with them. All we need to do is to start the training process immediately. The benefits are endless and our dogs will be so much enjoy the experience.

What can you expect to happen with your dog when his training is started? Well, let us look at this in-depth. You will be surprised how your dog will act and behave towards you. At first, you may experience some aggravation but with time, they will know what to expect. They will know how they can communicate with you so they will know how they can earn your love and respect. Remember, as long as you treat them right, your dog will be the best of behaved dog ever. They will be so much contented and loyal and will be so good to you. All because of their wonderful behavior and training by their human.

All because of their human’s effort in training them. A reward from you is the best thing you can do for them because it helps to build up their desire to obey and follow you. Doing this on a consistent basis helps them remember the desirable behavior that they have done. Consistency is the key here because they will connect the good behavior with a reward in time.

You can give them food or anything that you want, but using food above anything else is a sure way to their hearts. It is like karate to them, if you use the right type of food your dog will be like a different dog. You are going to see a different dog with the food. The owner is going to see a different dog and have a different dog in the mind of the dog. The same can be said for the reward with the dog, you are going to see a different dog with the reward and have a different dog in the mind of the dog.

The same can be said for everyone, no matter what they are training for. For example, if you are going to be training your dog to go for a walk and you are giving them a food treat every time they go for a walk, you are pretty much going to have a dog that goes for walks when they want too, every time they want too.

When you are training your dog, the same principles apply every time. If you are hitting your dog or scolding them, the dog will interpret this negatively and not as a reward for doing something right.

Now, even if we do use treats every single time, we can cause a problem in training if we use treats the wrong way. In order to prevent a back fence from being built in our brains, always reward your dog for anything good they do.

Training a new dog to walk with you is possible, but it will take some time and patience.

Many people try to train a dog to run with them and there are those who train their dog to sit, wait, give paw, etc. While learning is great and all these things can be accomplished with time and patience, how does one get started?

One way is to get a light leash and start slowly walking with your dog on the leash in your backyard. Start to walk with a very loose leash and let your dog explore and discover the world around him for a few minutes.

He may start to sniff at bushes, look out the window, and just be generally curious of everything. Once he is doing this, click the clicker and give him a treat for showing interest in the environment.

Repeat this for a few minutes only in your backyard or in your living room and then move the training to a fenced backyard. When training your dog to run with you, always keep him on a leash to begin with. He will be so focused on his new world and smells and visual stimuli, that if you lose his attention, you will not accomplish your goal.
