I was having tea with a friend last week, and we were discussing our extensive skin care regimens. As we were exchanging tips and advice, I realized that I have amassed a virtual recipe box of facials that can be done using fresh fruit. As there are many of you out there that could benefit from this knowledge, I have decided to share my insights. Here are some options for facials using fresh fruit:

Apple Facials

One of my favorite apples is P geometry. P geometry is a smallish, round fruit that’s brownish in color, and it taste like pinots. The veins in this fruit are really pretty, and the tiny brown pinots add a nice flavor to this facial. You can vary the amount of apple in your facial by selecting one of the following combinations.

Combination 1: 1 apple, 1 piece of sage, and 1 vitamin stick

Combination 2: 1 apple, 2 vitamin sticks and 1 spoon of henna

Combination 3: 1 apple, 3 vitamin sticks and 1 spoon of honey

You should use a quarter of a mashed apple in most recipes. Leave the apple pieces intact so that you can mix them with the other ingredients. Simply combine all the ingredients in a bowl and apply the mixture to your face. Leave it on for 15 minutes and rinse off with spring or distilled water.

Clove Facials

Clove is a stimulating and energizing essential oil that can help to reduce redness, inflammation along with sunburn. There are a variety of ways that you can use clove in a facial. You can apply the oil directly to the skin with a cotton ball, or you can spread the oil in a circular motion for massages.

One of the best ways to use clove is to use it as part of the ingredient for a clay mask. Mix 2 parts clove, 1 part water and 3 parts olive oil, and apply the mixture to your face. Clay masks are great for leaving deep pores feeling fresh and rejuvenated for hours.

Lemon Facials

Lemon is a great addition to a facial mask or exfoliant, as it is full of acidic properties that can help to slough off dead skin cells. You can use lemon essential oil or extract in a range of facials for:

Combination 2: 1 tablespoon lemon essential oil, 1 piece of lemon peel and 1/2 cup of sea salt

Combination 3: 1 tablespoon lemon essential oil, 2 small pieces of lemon peel and 1/4 cup of Rock salt

If you mix the essential oils in a different combination, you can make your own custom clove mask. You can apply the oil directly to the skin with a cotton ball, or you can spread the oil in a circular motion. Use your finger tips to massage the oil into the skin. If you have sensitive skin, you may wish to use a hypoallergenic cosmetic block to contain any bad reaction.

Tea Tree and Aloe Facials

These treatments are very easy to make and apply. You will just need a bowl of water and a few tea tree leaves. Pour the water in a small bowl, and add 5-10 drops of tea tree oil. Let the mixture sit in the bowl for a few minutes, then add the tea tree oil and mix thoroughly. You can apply one tea tree oil preparation at a time, or do a multi-treatment set. The treatments do not require implements, so you can do them around the house.

If you are doing a multi-treatment set, always apply the oil in aseptic conditioner. The oil is an antiseptic, and many infections are caused every day by people not following this rule.

All of the oils are equally good for the skin, as well as the inside of the body. Whatever preparation you make, always start with 100% pure coconut, olive, or coconut oil. The reason for this is because the oil needs to be thoroughly mixed and tested before use. Unquality oils may lead to improper application, and will likely smell strange. Mix 1 tablespoon of coconut, 1 tablespoon of olive, and 2 drops of lemongrass oil. Shake well to combine.

Apply to your face in a circular motion.

Fake Tan

A gel based spray tan can be applied with the same methods as a natural tan. If you have fair skin, half of the mixture should be applied to you, while the other half has to be applied to the back of your arms. Getting the mixture off your body is part of the fun, so make sure that you scrub well after applying.
