It brings me great pleasure to introduce another written piece by my husband’s Filipino pastor friend, Brother Louie, who sent us this piece via email to share on this blog. This written article is entitled, The Prayerfulness Of God. For all the religious folk and those who carry God in your heart, I hope you enjoy…
“Do you ever sense a call inside of you for a deeper experience of prayer? Do you ever wonder if God is calling you to pray more intensively? Or that you’re not praying enough? Or that God is waiting to fill your heart with some form of prayer?
Perhaps the call has come for you to realize the emptiness in your life. Maybe you’ve experienced the emptiness for some time now – perhaps you can now say, “where are You?”
If you feel as if your life is empty you should examine your life in detail. Everything in your life should be filled with joy, goodness and love. Take a close look at all areas of your life and see if there is a way God can work His will in your life. Here’s a suggestion — let the Lord show you what God can do in your life. Let Him reveal what you’ve been ignoring – maybe you can start by thanking Him for all the good things you have.
Let me give you three suggestions to take to heart to encourage and minister to your empty condition. These suggestions are to be carried to heart by every Christian believer.
• Pray daily. The Psalms are filled with prayers. Our God desires us to “give our requests to God” (Psalm 65:4). Find joy in your prayers and seek to share your heart with God daily. Put out your heart and ask God to meet your needs. Our #1 Key for Praying effectively is to ” earnestly ask” God for all you need (Matthew 6:8).
• Before we pray, let our minds be at peace. The Amplified version of the Bible warns against disturbing” distractions”. Distractions are anything that would somehow allow Satan to deceive you into wavering from your quiet, confident expectation. Find something to think about or just quietly wait in expectation. Find a peace to pray in that you will not be disturbed.
• Pray in the name of Jesus. Let’s “take our prayers to the Lord in His very own form”. Pray in the name if you know what that means. Jesus “wanted us to pray in His name.” Why do you think He said “in His name”? He wanted us to pray using the name that He knew would protect us from the evil” distractions.”
• True prayer is the best form of communion. True prayer integrates you with God. It brings all you and your free will to the table. There should be no surprise square or the Mukt later. Once you pray using the name of Jesus you must stay in prayer or else you become forged for Satan’s purposes.
• Ask for forgiveness when we fail to keep our promises. The Amplified version of the Bible states “if we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”
• Pray according to the will of God. The Amplified version declares “with toward attitude of submissive gratefulness.” To Pray according to the will of God means to pray in the Spirit to benefit from the Dimensions above. It means to pray in the Spirit to benefit from the Kingdom of Heaven.
• When we pray we must pray in the Name of Jesus. Saying the Lord’s Prayer is considered as the primary key to answered prayer. The Lord’s Prayer is rich with Meaning and Purpose. The meaning of the Lord’s Prayer is revealed when we unlock the meaning of each section. This will help you to identify and to put into action the purpose of each line of the prayer.
• Prayers should be enjoying what God is doing in our lives. We should be excited to meet with God. We should open our hearts to welcome Him and experience all that He has for us.
• God wants us to be eager to His embrace. The Amplified version of the Bible declares “with the heart eagerly desires to know the plans and position of the LORD.”
If you are going through a time of hardship, challenge, pain or spiritual emptiness, I hope that this piece of writing will bring you encouragement and hope. For, when we experience God’s deep, soft and powerful instruction in the very words we speak, we should want to make sure everyone hears and responds to God’s call for answered prayer.
When you pray, cherish the promises of God in His call for answered prayer. Open your heart and ask Him to reveal His desires for you in the time of the need. And, you will hear the “still, small voice” of the Spirit speaking to you. May God’s Spirit begin to work in your heart, drawing you into the closeness of His Bosom, where you will find Peace and Joy and the love of God.”
